A tragic incident marred Easter Sunday celebrations at St Paul’s Anglican Church in Emure Ekiti, as a one-year-old boy, Desmond Adewole, was fatally run over by an unidentified vehicle.

Eyewitnesses recount that the heartbreaking event unfolded amidst the joyous atmosphere of the Easter service. Desmond, who had reportedly strayed outside the church premises while trying to locate his mother, was later found lifeless, with indications that he had been struck by a car.

A church member, who requested anonymity, described the devastating discovery:

“The child must have wandered off in search of his mother. We later found him in a state that clearly showed he had been run over. It’s a terrible loss.”

“Investigations are underway to identify the driver and determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy,” he assured.

The church community and residents continue to mourn the loss of young Desmond, whose life was cut short in such a painful and untimely manner.
