15-Year-Old Girl Shoots Teacher, Injures 3 In Wisconsin

A fifteen-year-old (15) girl in Wisconsin identified as Natalie Rupnow shot and injured a teacher and three other students in a small Christian school on Monday.

This incident happened at Abundant Life Christian School, which holds a total of 420 students ranging from kindergarten to high school. The shooting happened inside the study hall, mixed with students of different grades.

She was in attendance at school that Monday and had suddenly opened fire at the students and teacher, which left a teacher killed and three other students injured.

She was also confirmed dead by the police authority, who rushed down to the school after receiving a 911 call from one of the students.

The police immediately locked off the surroundings of the school and were also assisted by the federal agents who were at the scene.

The Madison police chief, Shon Barnes, spoke on the incident but did not disclose much information on the shooter, partly out of respect for the family, and added that the students would later be questioned about the incident.

He said, “But that’s not something we want to rush. We’re not going to interrogate students.  “We’re going to give them an opportunity to come in and tell us what they saw when they’re ready.”

“Every child, every person in that building is a victim and will be a victim forever. … We need to figure out and try to piece together what exactly happened.

He added, “A motive for the shooting was not immediately known, nor was it clear if the victims were targeted.

“I don’t know why, and I feel like if we did know why, we could stop these things from happening.”

He noted that the authorities are still carrying out an investigation on the shooter and that the family is cooperating in the investigation.

The school’s head director of elementary and school relations, Barbara Wiers, also narrated that she was teaching when she heard the gunshot and instructed the students to vacate the building urgently. She added that the school only uses cameras, which is why they could not detect weapons.

The president, Biden, also expressed sadness over the incident while speaking with Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, offered his support, and also advised those in high authority to look into the situation and avoid more shootings.

In his statement, he said, “We can never accept senseless violence that traumatises children, their families, and tears the entire community apart.

He added Students across our country should be learning how to read and write—not having to learn how to duck and cover.”

The governor of Wisconsin, Tony Evers, promises to look more into the shooting and sends his prayers to those involved in the painful incident.

According to reports, the school shooting was one among the many incidents that have been recorded so far, along with the deadly ones in Newtown, Connecticut; Parkland, Florida; and Uvalde, Texas. It is also recorded that guns have been the major cause of death in young ones, as in 2020 and 2021.
