TRAIN YOUR KIDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE- RENO OMOKRI
Reno Omokri is a Nigerian author and social media influencer. Omokri was the host of Transformation with Reno Omokri, a Christian teaching TV show broadcast (for one season) on San Francisco’s KTLN-TV and Detroit’s Impact Network.
Reno Omokri started a thread on Twitter admonishing parents to train their children to be responsible and disciplined.
He made this known via a tweet on his X handle stating that once responsibility is not effectively inculcated in a child at a young age, the child may bring tears to the parents at old age.

Reno urged them to watch their children’s appetite and their spending habits as this also could lead to issues in their adulthood.
In his words,
If you don’t teach your children about responsibility when they are young, they will teach you about irresponsibility when you are old. It is better for your discipline to bring tears to their eyes than for their indiscipline to bring tears to your eyes in old age.
Watch their appetites. Gluttony in childhood leads to avarice in adulthood. Overspending as a child leads to high indebtedness as an adult. Fix these issues now, and you will smile in your old age
This is a call for all parents, as much as we want to be good parents to our kids, want them to enjoy the things we were not privileged to enjoy and treat them better than the old method, we should also note consideration and responsibility. Parents should not also forget that the treatment and method of upbringing they had while growing up is what has shaped them into becoming the better person they are today. Start by:
- teaching your children how to tidy up their rooms and toys.
- giving them something to look after.
- suggesting fundraising and charity work.
- introducing age-appropriate chores.
- showing them how to do a task but let them do it.
These will help kids have a sense of responsibility that will shape them into having a better adulthood and a better society at large.
This article could detail so much more 🙁 Would you expand on it in the future?
