PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE RACE; WHAT WILL IT BE?
Manchester City have won the Premier League title in the last 3 seasons, breaking Manchester United’s long-standing record, but what will it be this season? The top 3 teams on the Premier League table—Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal—are separated by just two points. However, Manchester City has played one fewer game than the other two teams. The three teams are going head-to-head in the league and looking to be on par.
Liverpool and Manchester City have both lost at Arsenal this season. Arsenal boasts a strong defence in the league, with the fewest goals conceded in the league and more clean sheets. This is courtesy of on-loan goalkeeper David Raya and Arsenal’s daunting centerbacks William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. Manchester City and Liverpool boast a better attack than Arsenal, with more goals scored in the league and more seasoned attacking players. Arsenal remains the least experienced of all three teams; they pushed Manchester City all the way last season, just like Liverpool did the season before.
All three sides are in action this weekend. Arsenal visits Burnley, Liverpool plays away at Brentford, and Manchester City faces off against Chelsea. All three sides have the right motivation to win the title. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp announced last month that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season. Klopp has won it all at the club, and his team sits at the top of the table, What better way to end their love affair than to win the league once again in his last season at the club?
Arsenal have one of the youngest top teams in Europe and one of the youngest managers as well. It would be a fairytale for such a team to end their club’s Premier League trophy drought that has lasted for almost 20 years. Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be aiming for a quadruple, the only accolade the club hasn’t achieved since Pep Guardiola’s appointment.
Kevin Debruyne and Erling Haaland returned to Manchester City’s lineup in the last game week. Arsenal could boast of a fully fit team for the first time this season once Jurrien Timber, Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Fabio Vieira return at the end of the month. Liverpool will be without Alexander Arnold, Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Bajectic and also Dominik Szobozlai. It will be a thrilling race, no doubt, and fans of all three sides will be looking forward to their team winning the PL title.
