Dunamis Seeds of Destiny, April 3, 2024, Devotional by Dr. Paul Enenche
Topic: Refuse to Exist Without God
SCRIPTURE: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Genesis 3:5.
Thought for the Day: When people decide to be independent of God, their character will be out of order.
SEEDS OF DESTINY FOR TODAY’S MESSAGE
The Scripture reveals that we are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14–16). One way to let our light shine in a dark world is by showing the true character of Christ in us. However, many professing Christians are deficient in godly character, resulting in negative perceptions of the godless world around them.
The story of the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden reveals that one root of character challenge or character failure is the decision to be independent of God. When people decide to be independent of God, their character will be out of order. When you decide to exclude God from your scheme of things, your character will be out of order.
In trying to lure Eve to sin against God, the devil told her:
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Genesis 3:5.
In other words, what Satan told Eve was, “Eat this fruit, and you will be like God, and you will not need God in your life again. There is something God is trying to hide from you in this fruit. If you eat it, you will not need God again.”
And sadly, Eve fell for the lies of the devil, ate the fruit, and became independent of God.
In the same way, we live in a generation where people exist independent of God. Their decisions and functions show that they do not need God. They do not consider or consult God in making their choices and decisions. They wake up in the morning, take their baths, and begin the activities of the day without a single word of prayer to acknowledge or thank God for preserving their lives.
They forget to realize that it takes only God to wake a person up in the morning (Psalm 3:5). To forget to acknowledge God or thank Him every day before delving into the activities of the day is not right.
Beloved, for your character to be in order, you must deliberately make the decision to be dependent on God. Acknowledge Him in all that you do.
Remember this: When people decide to be independent of God, their character will be out of order.
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Avoid the temptation of existing without God.
- Make up your mind to acknowledge God first thing in the morning; begin your day with God.
- Involve God in all the choices and decisions of your life.
Prayer: Lord, I repent of all my actions in the past that portrayed any form of independence from You. I receive the grace to acknowledge You in all that I do henceforth, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
Quote: Refuse to be independent spiritually. Refuse to live a life of no supervision. It is a dangerous thing to exist spiritually without supervision. Refuse it!
Culled from the book “Who Are You?” by Dr. Paul Enenche.
Daily Reading: 2 Chronicles 4–6.
AMAZING FACT: African buffaloes make decisions by voting when trying to decide which direction to travel in. One at a time, adult females will stand up and look in a certain direction before sitting down. Whichever direction gets the greatest number of looks is typically where the herd travels.
PROPHETIC WORD (DECLARATION):
Every spell of independence from God is broken off your life in Jesus’ name.
Lord Jesus, come into my life. I accept you as my Lord and personal savior. I believe in my heart that you died and rose from the dead to save me. Thank you, Lord, for saving me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
