MFM Devotional for Today MESSAGE:

The second category is the lust of the flesh. This is the inordinate affection or desire that stems from thoughts and imaginations that are contrary to God’s Word. The Bible refers to the works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19–21. The conclusion is that those who engage in those things will not inherit God’s kingdom.

The flesh is often warring against the Spirit because it feeds on carnal and ephemeral things. If you desire to live an overcomer’s life in the Spirit, you must compulsorily subdue and totally crucify the flesh. This was the Apostle Paul’s cry in Romans 7:24–25. It reads, “O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So then, with the mind, I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh, the law of sin.”

WORLD

The flesh is the manifestation of the old nature in us before we were born again. It is of utmost importance that you put it off and put on the new man, who is renewed in the knowledge of Christ. Ephesians 4:22–24 underscores this: “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

Thank God for the counsel of Galatians 5:24–25, that we should walk in the spirit in order not to fulfill the lust of the flesh. The flesh must die if you desire a sin-free life. Flee carnality! Crucify the flesh. Put it under control, and don’t allow it to control you.

Here are some tested and proven steps you can take to overcome the lust of the flesh and friendship with the world: (1) You must repent of every known sin. (2) You must live a holy and righteous life consistently. (3) You must be baptized with the Holy Ghost and fire. (4) You must be an avid reader and doer of the Word of God. (5) You must pray without ceasing. I pray that God will help you in the name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

  1. O Lord, forgive me of every sin of lust of the eyes and the flesh, in the Name of Jesus.
  2. My eyes will not lead me to hellfire, in the Name of Jesus.
  3. Every activity and desire of the flesh in me dies now, in the Name of Jesus.

EVENING

  1. I put my body under control, by the power of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus.
  2. By the power of God, I overrule carnality in my life, and I begin to walk in the Spirit, in the Name of Jesus.
