So he drove out the man, and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims a flaming sword that turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life. Genesis 3:24.

Thought for the Day: Distance from God brings out the worst in man.

Seeds of Destiny for Today:

Many years ago, a young man came to see me in tears. And his reason for coming to see me was repentance; he wanted to repent.

Now, what happened? Why did he want to repent?
He said he was seeing people tormenting him in the dream. He said they were hounding and haunting him with the demand, “Give us back our body parts.” They even mentioned the various body parts he took from them.

The young man in question was a ritual killer. He had killed many people and sold their body parts.

It was like the spirits of the people whose body parts he took were tormenting him in the dream, and so he could not rest or sleep in the night. The same devil that sent him to kill people came back to torment him in the dream of the night, using the spirits of the people he killed.

Do you see how wicked the devil is?

This young man was very distant from God. He fraternized with Satan and inherited disaster.
The lesson here is that distance from God leads to disastrous character and a calamitous life.

Genesis 3:24 says,
So he drove out the man, and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims a flaming sword that turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life.

When people move away from the presence of God, they begin to manifest a character that is disastrous.

That is where you see lovelessness and wickedness at their peak.

You see the peak of hatred and other negative extremes of human behavior when a man pulls away from God. Distance from God brings out the worst in man.

Remember this: Distance from God brings out the worst in man.

 

ASSIGNMENT:

1. Make up your mind not to go away from God.
2. Draw nearer to God at the place of prayer and the Word, so He can draw nearer to you.

Prayer: Lord, I receive the grace to draw nearer to You. Reveal yourself to me, Lord, in Jesus’ name.
