MEMORISE
All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).
READ
2 Timothy 3:10–17
[10]. But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,
[11]. persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all, the Lord delivered me.
[12]. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
[13]. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
[14]. But you must continue in the things that you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.
[15]. and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.
[16]. All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
[17]. that the man of God may be complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work.
EXPOSITION
The Scripture is the Holy Writ, the Word of the Living God. By doing so, we are guided by God’s ways and statutes. The saints of old maintained holy paths through God’s law. All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God. What is all Scripture? Before the canonization of the Holy Bible, the Israelites only had the Torah, which is the Book of the Law. Canonization is the process that brought together the Old and New Testaments into a single book.

The Church Fathers established a set of criteria that a writing must meet in order to be recognized as a book of the Bible. The Torah (Pentateuch) and This Book of the Law (Jos. 1:8) contain the five books of Moses: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. The other books of the Old Testament comprise the poetic and prophetic books. Those who ministered during the time of Jesus, including Jesus Himself, had the Torah, poetic writings, and writings of the prophets to make reference to. In most cases, Jesus alluded to the Law, the Psalms, and the Writings of the Prophets. In Paul’s conversation with Timothy regarding the inspiration of all Scripture, he was obviously referring to the 5 books of Moses, the Psalms, and the Prophets, as the Gospels, Acts, and Epistles were written at a later time. It is important to avoid viewing any portion of the Bible as irrelevant and to maintain a wholesome attitude towards the Scripture.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, help me that Your Word will dwell in me richly.
2. Everything that is negating my effort to really know You in the Scripture, Lord, help me to deal with them totally.
3. Deliver us, Oh Lord, from unwholesome attitudes toward the Scripture and make us sincere friends of Your Word.
SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 460
1. There is a book, who runs may read,
Which only truth imparts;
And all the lore its scholars need,
Pure eyes and Christian hearts.
2. The works of God above, below,
Within us and around us,
Are there pages in that book to show?
How God Himself is found.
3. The glorious sky, embracing all
Is like the maker’s love;
Wherewith encompass’d, great and small
In peace and order, move.
4. One name, above all glorious names,
With its ten thousand tongues
The everlasting sea proclaims,
Echoing angelic songs.
5. Thou who hast given me eyes to see
And I love this sight so much.
Give me a heart to find out.
And read them everywhere.
Amen.
