Apostle Suleman: Nigerians Are Reaping What They Sow
The Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has attributed Nigeria’s current economic challenges to the poor decisions made during the 2023 elections. Speaking during the “Recovery Conference 2025” in Bauchi State, Suleman candidly criticised Nigerians for their electoral choices, saying they are now reaping the consequences of their actions.
During the two-day event, held on Tuesday and Wednesday, Suleman was explicit in his remarks to journalists at the Government House. He lamented the state of the nation, pointing directly at the leadership and policies of President Bola Tinubu.
“What Nigerians are going through is partly what they deserve. Before the election, we cried out, we screamed, we yelled. The man (President Bola Tinubu) who came into leadership had no manifesto—just a sense of entitlement with his ‘it’s my turn’ mantra,” Suleman stated.
He criticised Tinubu’s administration for its handling of the oil sector and economic policies, asserting that the damage being done may take over a decade to repair. “The oil sector has been plundered. In the next 10 to 15 years, I don’t think Nigerians will recover from the damage. Now, all we can do is pray,” he said, urging Nigerians to reflect on their voting decisions ahead of the 2027 elections.
Suleman added, “If they’ve suffered enough by then, perhaps they’ll make better decisions.”
Governor Bala Mohammed also shared similar sentiments regarding the administration’s policies. While hosting Suleman at the Government House, Mohammed openly criticised the Federal Government’s tax reforms and other policies, warning of their long-term negative effects.

“Tinubu’s policies don’t have a clear vision and are taking us to the road to perdition and destruction. That is why when I talk about tax reforms, it is not because I don’t want reform, but because I want reform that will have a national impact. I don’t have anything against the president but respect,” Mohammed said.
The governor assured that he would continue to speak against policies that shortchange Nigerians, emphasising the need for better governance. “Nigerians deserve better, and I will not shy away from pointing out these shortcomings,” he stated firmly.
Ahead of the conference, Apostle Suleman paid a courtesy visit to Governor Mohammed. During the visit, he praised Mohammed for his leadership and hospitality, describing him as “a man of honour.” Suleman pledged continued prayers for Bauchi State’s progress, while senior pastors, including Dr. Kingsley Aigbe, accompanied him.
The event served as a platform for reflection on the nation’s leadership and the choices made by its citizens. Both Suleman and Mohammed’s comments highlighted the need for Nigerians to critically assess their decisions and advocate for accountable leadership. With the 2027 elections approaching, Suleman’s message resonated as a clarion call for political awareness and informed choices.
