Reverend Samson Arojah Albert Unveils 1,000 Indigenous Hymns

Reverend Samson Arojah Albert, a cleric and gospel musician, has unveiled a collection of more than 1,000 hymns composed in one of the nation’s indigenous languages. His goal is to spread the gospel through music that deeply connects with people.

During the recent launch of the six-volume collection titled Arojah Hymns in Lagos, Rev. Albert highlighted what makes this project unique: the originality of every hymn. Unlike traditional hymns, none of the songs in the collection bear any resemblance to existing ones.

Beyond launching the Arojah Hymns series—an endeavour he credits to divine inspiration and his deep love for music—Rev. Albert revealed plans to establish an ultra-modern recording studio dedicated to hymn composition and gospel music production.

“The studio is designed to support artists who wish to create authentic and spiritually uplifting hymns, ensuring that future generations can experience the richness of gospel music,” he said.

Expressing his lifelong passion for music, he stated, “My love for music is undeniable. My passion for hymns has led me to compose these songs. While many people focus on other genres, hymns remain my true calling. I do not imitate others; my music is unique and something that no one else has done before.”

Rev. Albert’s journey into hymnal composition began in 2015 when he released his first 300 hymns. At the time, he made a public commitment to surpass 1,000 hymns within a decade. With the launch of Arojah Hymns, he expressed delight in fulfilling that promise while introducing a genre that resonates deeply with the people.

The cleric also emphasised the importance of gospel musicians in addressing the moral decline in society.

“Music is universal, but what distinguishes gospel music is its message. When we compose, the message is key. My hymns are intended for all who seek spiritual upliftment and salvation.

“Many Christians are no longer following His teachings but rather their comfort. My advice to all believers is to remain faithful and focused, never losing sight of salvation, which is the ultimate goal,” he stated.

Reaffirming his commitment to hymn composition, he reiterated his plans to build an ultra-modern recording studio. This studio, he explained, will serve as a hub for musicians dedicated to creating Christian music, supporting artists who wish to produce authentic and spiritually enriching hymns.

Rev. Albert’s significant contribution to gospel music has positioned him as a pioneer in hymn composition. His dedication to originality, commitment to spreading Christ’s message, and vision for the future of Christian music have set a new standard in the global gospel community.
