Kemi Olunloyo Begs for $30K Donation for Trauma Treatment
Controversial Nigerian journalist and activist Kemi Olunloyo has launched a GoFundMe campaign titled “Help Kemi Olunloyo Fight PTSD” in a bid to raise $30,000 for medical treatment related to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She attributes her condition to severe childhood trauma and recent distressing experiences, including what she describes as an abduction by armed police officers in Ibadan, Nigeria.
According to the campaign details, the funds will be used to facilitate her travel to the United States, where she hopes to reunite with her sons and access comprehensive healthcare services. Her goal is to activate her U.S. Social Security disability benefits.
This latest fundraising effort comes shortly after Olunloyo publicly distanced herself from the Olunloyo family following the death of her father, Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a former governor of Oyo State, who passed away on April 6, 2025. Kemi claims that her decision was driven by a history of emotional and physical abuse within the family, which she says has deeply affected her mental health.
Prior to this, she had launched a separate GoFundMe campaign aimed at drug abuse education in Africa, targeting an annual goal of $30,000 to support outreach programmes across the continent.
Olunloyo’s new campaign has stirred conversations online, with supporters expressing sympathy and urging contributions, while critics remain skeptical. As of now, she continues to advocate for mental health awareness and support, using her personal story as a focal point.
