Christian Leaders Pray For Trump In White House Meeting
Over a dozen Christian leaders gathered in the Oval Office this week to pray with President Donald Trump, reflecting on his growing connection with faith communities following last summer’s assassination attempt. According to one participant, the incident has deepened Trump’s relationship with religious groups, making faith an even more central aspect of his leadership.
The prayer session was led by Paula White-Cain, a senior advisor to the White House Faith Office and Trump’s longtime spiritual guide. Various faith leaders attended, including the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Pastor Travis Johnson of Pathway Church in Alabama, David Barton of WallBuilders, social conservative activist Gary Bauer, and William Wolfe, executive director of the Center for Baptist Leadership.
During the meeting, Rodriguez, who has been a spiritual advisor to the Trump administration since 2017, delivered a heartfelt prayer for the former president. He expressed gratitude and humility, asking for divine protection and guidance over Trump’s leadership. Referencing biblical passages, Rodriguez prayed for Trump’s strength in advancing policies rooted in justice, truth, and love, invoking Isaiah 58:8 as a vision for America’s spiritual renewal.
Rodriguez described it as an honor to collaborate with White-Cain and Special Assistant to the President Jenny Korn, emphasizing his appreciation for the opportunity to represent Christians and the Latino community. Before meeting Trump, the leaders held discussions on faith-based initiatives and policy strategies.
Reflecting on their time with Trump, Rodriguez said the atmosphere felt warm and personal, likening it to a family reunion. He praised Trump as an exceptionally faith-friendly leader, describing him as the most pro-faith president he has seen in his lifetime. Drawing comparisons to Ronald Reagan’s vision of America as a “city on a hill,” he suggested that Trump has actualized that dream through his commitment to Christian values.

When asked about the differences between Trump’s first and current term, Rodriguez highlighted how the failed assassination attempt last summer profoundly influenced the former president’s perspective. He suggested that surviving the attack reinforced Trump’s belief in divine intervention, making faith more central to his leadership than ever before.
Trump formally announced the creation of the White House Faith Office during a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast last month. Just weeks into his new term, he established the office to address concerns about religious freedom and combat anti-Christian sentiment. In an executive order dated February 7, Trump outlined the office’s mission, emphasizing its role in empowering faith-based organizations, churches, and community groups to serve American families.
The office, housed within the Domestic Policy Council, is led by a Senior Advisor and other appointed officials. Its primary functions include gathering input from religious leaders, recommending policy changes, and ensuring faith-based groups can effectively contribute to social welfare.
As Trump continues his second term, faith leaders remain a key part of his administration’s outreach, shaping policies that align with their values while fostering a stronger partnership between government and religious organizations.
