FINDING STRENGTH IN GOD’S PROMISES- EPISODE 2
Finding strength in God’s promises is like a defence mechanism that God has granted to Christians to help navigate this world. It’s a brand-new week, full of life’s numerous mysteries. A Christian might be overwhelmed by what this new week has in store, I’m here to tell such a person that this new week is full of God’s blessings and grace. The question now is: how do we tap into these blessings? The simple answer is to read the Bible and seek strength from it.
The Bible is the word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ, which are the sword of a Christian. The Bible is the weapon issued to us by God. The sacred holy book is our comforter; it is our guide when the road gets darker. Therefore, when we are anxious and doubtful of what the week holds, let us turn to our Bibles. Reflect on God’s promises and gain strength. Together, let’s take a look at how to draw strength from God’s promises.
God’s words are infallible:
God’s promises are everlasting. God has made promises to us in the Bible. He has promised us provision, love, and everlasting life. All these promises are unchangeable because they are the words of God, and he does not go back on his words. The Bible says in Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” God does not change, nor does he fail. The Almighty is a god of truth. His words are dependable. For this reason, as Christians, we can use promises as our foundation for a successful week and a successful life.
Believe in God’s plans.
Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” At some point in life, we might feel deserted by God. We face challenges so tough that even a devoted Christian will feel lost. Even some of the most renowned evangelists and preachers have felt this way.
Life is full of trials and tribulations. Sometimes the devil tests our strength, whispering fear into our ears. When in situations like these, turn to God. As long as we lean on God’s power, trust him wholeheartedly, and submit to him, he will set us straight. With God’s power, we will be rid of fear and uncertainty.
Claiming victory through faith:
The Bible says that through God, all things are possible. None of the challenges we face in life are bigger than God’s power. A Christian will face several things in the journey of the spirit, but God has promised us that we will be victorious. As long as we put our faith in God’s power and give thanks to him, he will give us strength to overcome our troubles. 1 Corinthians 15:57: “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Give thanks to God, believe in victory, believe he has answered your prayers, and he will give you swift victory.
Overcoming adversity with God’s strength:
God’s strength is all we need to overcome every trial. The Bible says that if God is for us, who can be against us? With God, adversity loses its strength. As Christians, we should cultivate the habit of seeking victory with God’s strength. Here are some Bible verses that help us understand God’s promises to us and his strength.
- Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
- Philippians 4:13: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
- 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
- James 1:12: “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”
