Governor Makinde Installs Oba Owoade as Alaafin of Oyo

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has formally inaugurated Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade’s reign by presenting him with the certificate of office as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo.

 The concise yet meaningful ceremony took place on Monday at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan, and was graced by prominent dignitaries, traditional rulers, government officials, and excited Oyo indigenes.

 While presenting the insignia of office, Governor Makinde hailed Oba Owoade as a leader uniquely poised to preserve and promote the cultural and historical legacy of the Oyo Kingdom.

 He emphasised that the Alaafin of Oyo is not merely a traditional ruler but a revered custodian of the kingdom’s rich history and traditions. The governor expressed confidence that Oba Owoade would lead with wisdom, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to the unity and progress of the Oyo Kingdom.

 In his address, the newly crowned Alaafin, Oba Owoade, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Oyo and pledged to focus on advancing the kingdom’s development and enhancing its people’s well-being.

 He succeeded the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who ruled for an impressive fifty years.
