Topic: WHAT QUALIFIES YOUR FAITH?
MEMORISE
Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things (Romans 2:1).
READ
Romans 2:21-24
[21]. You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?
[22]. You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
[23]. You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonour God through breaking the law?
[24]. For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.
EXPOSITION
Today is World Humanitarian Day and World Photograph Day. Certain titles are given to individuals as a sign of recognition for their perceived quality, status, or valuable contributions to a society. We see this in the Bible. Abraham is referred to as the “father of faith,” while Simon, son of Jonah, was named “Petros” or Peter, which means “a rock,” by Jesus Christ. James and John, born of Zebedee, were jointly branded “sons of thunder,” and John Zebedee was further named “the beloved apostle.” Similarly, our Jehovah God and Creator of the heavens and the earth is known as “I AM THAT I AM” and bears the title JEHOVAH Jireh. Nissi, Roi, Shalom, Shammah, Sabbath, etc. People are known, called, and further described according to their qualities. But some Christians are known for their negative qualities, such as thieves, liars, malicious, rebels, gossipers, drunkards, bitter, pagnacious, unforgiving, as today is forgiveness day, occultists, witches, diviners, and other things that God detests (Prov. 6:16–19).
LIVING
Interestingly, the Berean Church members were branded “honorable.” Why? Read Acts 17:11. Christ is referred to as an “itinerant do-gooder,”  the Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, and Immanuel. He labels Himself as the good shepherd of the sheep. Please reflect on the quality of your faith and the titles you bear. Are you a betrayer, a fornicator, or a blasphemer? Are you an indolent or insolent person, or a profane, lukewarm, or rabble-rouser, or do you bear positive titles? Check and put on the New Man in Christ (Eph. 4:21-32; 5-1-21).
PRAYER POINTS
[1]. Thank God for always calling you to order.
[2]. Pray for forgiveness in all areas you have disappointed God.
[3]. Pray to God for the old man to be removed from you and replaced with the new man made alive in Christ Jesus.
SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY
CAC GHB: 735
1. Take my life and let it be.
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee,
Take my moments and my days;
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
2. Take my hands and let them move.
At the impulse of Thy love,
Take my feet and let them be.
Swift and beautiful for you.
3. Take my voice and let me sing.
Always, only for my King,
Take my lips and let them be.
Filled with messages from Thee.
4. Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold,
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will and make it yours.
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart—it is your own.
It shall be Thy royal throne.
6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee!
Amen.
