LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF – EPISODE ONE
They can be tired of Life and still have the best smile
Love your neighbour as yourself is not just a saying, it’s a command from God. And to love your neighbour as yourself, you need to love yourself first which is the yardstick to know how much you should love your neighbour.
You can’t hate yourself and think that you can love others. Love comes from within. It’s like showing kindness, you need to be kind to express kindness to others. Imagine planting a lime, and expecting to harvest an orange.
Loving your neighbour as you love yourself is not necessarily telling them you love them. It is embedded in actions like;
ACTING WITH COMPASSION
This is not simply having pity for someone, it’s more! A heart that is moved by compassion cannot sit idle while someone suffers a need. Loving your neighbour as yourself is offering to help to the full extent of your ability when anyone needs your help.
LOOKING OUT FOR OTHERS
1 Corinthians 10:24 says, No one should seek their own good but the good of others. God wants us to tend to the affairs of other people. No wonder Jesus said in Matthew 25:42-46 that “when I was hungry, you didn’t feed me, and when I was thirsty, you didn’t give me a drink.” And when He was asked How, He said, in verse 45 that “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
Pay attention to your neighbour, if you notice that they are struggling with something, you should be willing to help. For Example, If someone falls into the mud, your first instinct is to help the person out rather than laughing or taking video recordings about the situation.
SERVING THEM
Even Jesus stated that He came to serve in Matthew 20:28, For You to love your neighbour as yourself, you need to have a heart to serve them, assure and reassure them that you are here for them. If you find people who need help with anything and you are in the capacity to help, you shouldn’t avoid them, instead, you should lend a helping hand without expecting a reward.
SPEAKING KINDNESS
God created the world using words. Words are powerful, they can build up and tear down. Use words of encouragement to build people up, and speak words of kindness to people who you perceive are down. Appreciate people and genuinely congratulate them on their achievements.
