Meet Kamsiyochukwu Anusi, Nigeria’s 8-Year-Old Author

Eight-year-old Kamsiyochukwu Anusi has become Nigeria’s second youngest author with his book, ‘Adventures Round the Shining Egg.’ This achievement also makes him Africa’s third youngest and one of the world’s six youngest authors. Kamsiyochukwu, a basic four pupil at Mary Pearl Ville Academy in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was born in Imo State and lives in Port Harcourt with his family, including his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chukwuma Anusi, and his siblings, Delight and Excel.

In an interview, Kamsiyochukwu described his daily routine: school, homework, teaching his sister, and writing stories. He writes at home, often at the dining table, drawing inspiration from his surroundings. He explained, “I read a lot of storybooks and one day I felt like I should write my own story. I tried it, and that was how the whole thing started.”

‘Adventures Round the Shining Egg’ reflects his creativity, blending reality, fantasy, miracles, and magic, often with positive themes. He dedicated the book to his parents for their support, God, and his pastor, Dr. Chibueze Amadi, for teaching him respect, obedience, and perseverance.

Joy Esuku, Chairperson of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Rivers State Branch, expressed her excitement, saying, “I feel excited; that is why I have been committed since I got to know of his writing.” ANA plans to involve him in writing activities for children and teenagers and prepare him for formal membership.

Kingsley Egbulonu, Deputy Director and Head of the National Library of Nigeria, Port Harcourt, praised Kamsiyochukwu and announced that the library will provide space for the book launch, support its promotion, and issue both E-ISBN and ISBN numbers. “As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, the National Library always identifies with authors and gifted children,” he stated.

Kamsiyochukwu’s father, Chukwuma Anusi, expressed his surprise and pride, saying, “Well, I know he can write like normal writing, but this professional writing, honestly, it just came by surprise.” He credited his son’s passion and reading habits for his success and advised parents to monitor their children’s academic and career development.
