NDLEA Arrests 536 Suspected Drug Dealers In Adamawa
The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended over 536 suspected drug dealers and seized 4,880 kilograms worth of illicit substances in Adamawa.
The NDLEA Commander for Adamawa, Mr. Agboala Femi, announced this at a press conference in Yola on Monday, stating that the arrests and seizures occurred between January and December 2024.
Femi noted that the most significant seizures included Cannabis Sativa, which remains the most commonly abused drug in the country.
He highlighted, “In 2024, the Adamawa State Command made a total of 536 arrests. These included 518 males and 18 females, underscoring the inclusive and non-discriminatory nature of our operations.
“This is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that all offenders, irrespective of gender, are held accountable for their involvement in drug-related crimes.”
He stated that, during the period in question, the command successfully achieved 148 convictions, adding that 59 cases are still pending at the Federal High Court in Yola.

The NDLEA Commander mentioned that in terms of drug demand reduction, the command was dedicated to supporting individuals, having admitted 52 clients for counselling and rehabilitation, with 40 of them successfully completing their programs.
He noted, “In the area of preventive education, the command conducted 142 Drug Abuse Preventive Education (DAPE) and War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) programs, which reached 85,285 participants across various sectors.”
The commander stated that the fight against drug abuse is a shared responsibility and urged all stakeholders to keep working together with the agency to create a drug-free society.
