Pastor Adeboye’s experience with a demonic woman

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared a startling encounter with a woman who persistently claimed that God had ordained him as her husband. The highly revered cleric recounted the bizarre incident during the grand finale of the 2025 Special Victory Hour programme on Wednesday, describing it as a clear case of demonic influence.

According to Pastor Adeboye, the woman in question, a senior official at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and a married mother, unexpectedly appeared in his office one day with an unusual declaration.

“Several years ago, a woman just woke up one morning, came to my office, and said, ‘God has told me that you are my husband.’ I was shocked. I told her, ‘How can God tell you that? I am a pastor, happily married.’ She herself was also married, and from her appearance, she might even have been older than me,” Adeboye recounted.

Despite his efforts to reason with her, the woman remained unyielding in her belief. Her persistence escalated into a direct threat against his wife, Mrs Folu Adeboye. Alarmed by the gravity of the situation, the church leadership contacted the woman’s husband in an attempt to resolve the matter. However, even with his involvement, she refused to abandon her claim.

The situation soon required police intervention. “We sent for her husband, but she remained adamant. We took the matter to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), who warned her to stay away from the camp. Her response? ‘You are joking.’ She then confronted my wife directly and said, ‘If you don’t allow me to marry him, I will kill you,’” the RCCG leader revealed.

What initially seemed like a peculiar claim quickly spiralled into an unsettling case of obsession. Despite law enforcement’s involvement, the woman’s relentless pursuit did not end there.

In a shocking turn of events, Pastor Adeboye said the woman managed to track him to London, where he had discreetly travelled to work on a Sunday School pamphlet.

“I had told nobody about my trip. I wanted to do my work quietly, so I left without making any announcements. However, as soon as I arrived at the house in London, the phone rang. I picked up, and it was her. She said, ‘Welcome. I’ve been waiting for you. I will be with you in the next few minutes; I’m at the next bus stop.’”

Dumbfounded by how she had located him despite his secrecy, Pastor Adeboye realised he needed divine intervention. He prayed, seeking guidance from God on how to deal with the bizarre situation.

“I turned to the Almighty and asked, ‘What is this?’ God responded, ‘As long as you allow the mountain to stay, the mountain will stay.’ So, I prayed a simple prayer. I don’t know how it happened, but they brought her body back to Nigeria,” he concluded.

The revelation has since sparked widespread discussion, with many pointing to the spiritual challenges that religious leaders often face. Pastor Adeboye’s testimony serves as a sobering reminder of the battles that extend beyond the physical realm.
