Pastor E.A Adeboye Retells 7yr Old Near Death Experience

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye, recently shared a harrowing experience that nearly claimed his life seven years ago. Speaking during the church’s annual Special Holy Ghost Service, themed Joy Unspeakable, he recounted how his health drastically deteriorated due to poor road conditions, leaving him bedridden on Christmas Day for the first time in his life.

Pastor Adeboye revealed that his health crisis struck while he was in Ilesa, Osun State, during an evangelism programme. The severity of his condition rendered him too weak to undertake a journey by road. Given the critical state of his health, a helicopter had to be chartered to transport him to the RCCG Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway.

However, the journey to recovery was not without obstacles. According to Pastor Adeboye, a group of miscreants attempted to prevent the helicopter from taking off, even damaging one of its windows. Despite their efforts, the helicopter successfully transported him to the RCCG Camp, where he eventually regained his health.

Recalling the ordeal, he said, “Because the roads were terrible, my body couldn’t take it anymore, and I broke down completely. For the first time in my life, I spent Christmas Day in bed. The devil was convinced he had won, but by God’s grace, I made it through. Had I travelled by road, I am certain I would not have survived the journey.”

Pastor Adeboye expressed his gratitude for divine intervention, emphasizing his faith that reaching the RCCG Camp would mark the beginning of his recovery. “I had an assurance that if only I could get to the camp, I knew I would recover. Seven years later, I am still here!” he added, acknowledging God’s mercy over his life.

His testimony serves as an inspiration to believers, reinforcing the power of faith and divine protection even in the face of life-threatening situations. The RCCG congregation, moved by his account, celebrated his survival and the continued strength of their leader.

Pastor Adeboye’s experience underscores the need for improved road infrastructure in Nigeria, as poor road conditions often contribute to health emergencies and fatalities. His story is not just one of survival but also a call to action for better transportation systems that can safeguard lives.

Seven years later, Pastor Adeboye continues to lead RCCG, spreading the gospel and inspiring millions worldwide with his unwavering faith.
