President Tinubu Celebrates Adeboye On His 83rd Birthday

President Bola Tinubu on Monday congratulated the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on his 83rd birthday.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President lauded Adeboye’s lasting impact on millions of lives over more than five decades.

“Pastor Adeboye’s teachings continue to shape lives across generations,” Tinubu stated, also recognising his contributions beyond the pulpit, particularly in healthcare and education.

The president expressed appreciation for Adeboye’s partnerships with Nigerians from all backgrounds and prayed for his continued strength, good health, and divine guidance as he led in his ministry.

Meanwhile, Adeboye has urged parents to take a firm approach in raising their children instead of allowing society to influence them.

Acknowledging that parenting has become more difficult due to the Internet, social media, and evolving societal norms, he stressed that parents have a divine duty to train their children in the “way of the Lord.”

Speaking during the RCCG special monthly Thanksgiving service at the church’s headquarters in Ebutte Metta, Lagos, Adeboye warned that parents risk destroying their children’s future if they adopt the belief that children should be left to find their own way in life.

“Parents, wake up! Train your children in the way of the Lord. If you allow them to do what they like, you are ruining your future. Be firm. Those parents who are highly sophisticated and highly educated would say that their children should be allowed to sow their wild oats when those children are doing wrong things that are only ruining their future,” he said.

Adeboye also offered special prayers for young adults, encouraging them to channel their energy towards positive endeavours that would shape them into better individuals.

He emphasised that parents must be deliberate in their prayers and teachings to ensure their children become responsible citizens.

Additionally, Adeboye urged youths to be mindful of their actions, as past choices could impact them positively or negatively.

Addressing journalists after the service, Special Assistant to the General Overseer (Administration) and Pastor-in-Charge of Region 1, Dele Balogun, cautioned youths against the growing get-rich-quick mentality, which he said jeopardises their future and destiny.

“We need to tell our young ones that cybercrime and prostitution are not the pathways to greatness. If they are treading on that route, it will only cut their life short,” Balogun said.
