KEEPER
EXPOSITION
Keeping something means making it safe, preserving it, and hiding it from being stolen or corrupted. So, when the Bible says, The LORD is your keeper, it means that the Lord truly keeps you safe because His word is truth. In football, a goalkeeper ensures that the opponent doesn’t score any goals. They protect their goal line and prevent the net from shaking. If the goalkeeper successfully keeps the ball out of the net, it is called a clean sheet. God’s word is always true and consistent (Num. 23:19). From every direction, God declares that He is your keeper, so don’t doubt it. God is committed to protecting His people and keeping them safe from the dangers of life.
Believers must understand that God doesn’t leave us to face life’s challenges alone. By His infinite power and mercy, He keeps and protects us from evil, especially the attacks that come because of our faith in Christ Jesus. Just as God kept David safe from King Saul, wild animals, and the giant Goliath, believers in Christ can be confident that He will keep us as He has promised. He has never failed anyone, and He will never fail you as long as you are following His will. Believe and trust in Him, knowing that He will not allow any evil to come near you. Rely on His absolute power and watch as your dangerous enemies are defeated.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, I stand firm upon the knowledge of Your undying Word that You are my keeper.
2. Oh Lord God, keep me and all that I have from all evil and deliver me from my strong enemies.
3. As we trust and depend on You, Oh Lord, safeguard all believers from the evil ones so that they will not be able to overpower us and the gospel.
SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB: 871
1. Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on his gentle breast,
There by His love o’er shaded,
Sweetly, my soul shall rest.
Hark, ’tis the voice of angels.
Born strong to me,
Over the fields of glory
Over the Jasper Sea.
Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on his gentle breast,
There by His love o’er shaded,
Sweetly, my soul shall rest.
2. Safe in the arms of Jesus
Safe from corroding care
Safe from the world’s temptations
Sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow
Free from my doubt and fear
Only a few more trials
Only a few more tears.
3. Jesus, my heart’s dear refuge,
Jesus has died for me.
Firm on the Rock of Ages
My trust shall be ever.
Here, let me wait with patience.
Wait till the night is over.
Wait till I see the morning.
Break on the golden shore.
Amen.
