The Story of Joshua Beckford: The World’s Youngest Genius

Who would ever imagine a young black boy of age six earning the title “the most brilliant boy in the world”. Let me introduce you to Joshua Beckford; the boy who made the world gasp at his achievements at such a young age.

 

Who is Joshua Beckford? 

Joshua Beckford is an extraordinary individual with an impressive background. Joshua comes from a supportive family background. His father, Daniel Knox, and his mother reside in the United Kingdom, where Joshua gained recognition for his exceptional abilities. Joshua was born in 2004, and at 10 months old, his father, Daniel Knox, discovered that his son had special skills. Joshua had memorised and understood letters on a computer board. His family has been instrumental in nurturing his talents and providing him with the necessary support to excel academically.

Joshua Beckford’s achievements are truly remarkable. Despite his young age, he has accomplished so much. His notable achievements include becoming the youngest person to attend the University of Oxford at 6, speaking multiple languages, excelling in various academic subjects, and advocating for autism awareness and education. Beckford’s success serves as an inspiration to many, showcasing the incredible things that can be accomplished with determination and passion.

He learnt to read proficiently using phonics at the age of two and could speak Japanese by the age of three. At the age of six, he became the world’s youngest person to study philosophy and history at the famous University of Oxford in England, earning a distinction in both fields.

At 10 months old, he could read, write, and recognise the alphabet, as well as point to different colours on a chart. In 2011, his father wanted to push his kid, so he wrote to the university to ask if he could enrol in a philosophy course for intelligent youngsters aged eight to thirteen. They agreed, and Joshua became the youngest student ever accepted. He even passed with distinction.

Joshua excels in science, math, history, foreign languages, and history. He aspires to be a neurosurgeon and is well on his way by doing gall bladder removals and appendectomy surgeries. He’s done all of this even after being diagnosed with autism.

When he isn’t studying and achieving more than many adults, Joshua Beckford also serves as the face of the National Autistic Society’s Black and Minority (BME) campaign. Diagnosed with high-functioning autism, Joshua helps to spread the campaign’s mission of highlighting obstacles Blacks face when trying to obtain access to necessary autism support and services. Joshua is now 14 years old with some incredible achievements.
