Trump May Offer Mothers $5K ‘Baby Bonus’ For Every Newborn
The Trump administration is reportedly considering offering financial incentives to American mothers in an effort to reverse declining birth rates across the country. According to The New York Times, officials have been quietly meeting with pro-natalist activists and birth advocates to explore a range of proposals aimed at encouraging women to have more children.
Among the proposals under consideration is a $5,000 “baby bonus” for mothers after childbirth. Another idea reportedly involves creating a “National Medal of Motherhood” to honour American women who give birth to six or more children—a move reminiscent of similar programmes previously seen under authoritarian regimes.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the administration’s pro-family stance in a statement to the Times, emphasising President Donald Trump’s commitment to uplifting American families.
“President Trump is proudly implementing policies to uplift American families,” Leavitt stated. “The president wants America to be a country where all children can safely grow up and achieve the American dream.”
“As a mother myself, I am proud to work for a president who is taking significant action to leave a better country for the next generation,” she added.
While the proposals have yet to be officially announced or finalised, they have already sparked debate among policy experts and commentators over their potential effectiveness and social implications.
